Why Choose Microcement?
Being a hand troweled Italian coating or topping, microcement can create a wide variety of effects on overlays. There is almost an infinite number of possibilities when it comes to the design. Depending your taste and style preferences, you can create marbled or cloud-like effects by playing with the textures and colours. Our microcement application has a polyurethane coating so it is quick and easy to clean and maintain. It also has a high slip rating so it is safe for high-traffic areas.
Microcement flooring vs. tiling.
When it comes to flooring, both microcement and tile are great options. However, there are some reasons why you might choose microcement flooring over tiling.
Replacing tiles can be a dusty and damaging process – including grinding and removal of the glue.
Afterwards, needing new tiles and a tiler to replace what was removed.
Microcement can go straight over the top of tiles alleviating mess and avoiding potential damage to skirting boards and walls.
Microcement can be done in half that time and can be done at a lower cost.
Appearance: Microcement flooring can offer a natural and rustic appearance that is difficult to achieve with tile. Microcement can mimic the look of natural stone, such as granite, marble, or slate, and can add a unique and beautiful element to your space.

Durability: Microcement flooring is generally more durable than tile. Microcement is made from a variety of materials such as concrete, polyurethane, or PVC, which can withstand heavy foot traffic and resist scratches and stains. Tile, on the other hand, can crack or chip if heavy objects are dropped on it.
Maintenance: Microcement flooring requires minimal maintenance, making it a great choice for busy households. It can be easily cleaned and maintains overall hygiene standards. Tile, on the other hand, can require more maintenance, such as regular re-grouting and sealing to prevent water damage.
Additionally, microcement is a lime-based product which pull carbon dioxide out of itself.
Comfort: Microcement flooring can provide a comfortable and warm surface underfoot. It can also help regulate the temperature in your space, keeping it cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, perfect for the Gold Coast climate. Tiles can be cold and uncomfortable to stand on, especially during the colder months.
Overall, microcement flooring can be a great choice for those who want a durable, low-maintenance, and visually appealing flooring option. However, it is important to consider your specific needs and preferences when choosing between microcement and tile for your flooring.
How Is Microcement Applied?
To begin with, we apply the area with a primer. Next, we fill any cracks, lower areas, and grout joins where necessary.
Followed by 1 coat of microcement that we trowel the mesh into.
We then apply 2 more coats of microcement overtop to get your desired look.
To safeguard the coating, we conclude the process with 3 coats of polyurethane.
This process takes approximately 5 working days, depending on the area size.
PLEASE NOTE: All furniture must be out of the area.
